Memories for my favorite city, Krakow <3

Gearing up for a month of travels!  After a my seminar at the hospital today, I’m officially fully on vacation for the next few weeks!  Feels so good.  Went for a long run as the sun was setting and now I’m finishing up packing.  I’m so excited to be going back to Krakow later this month!  It’s one of my favorite cities in the world, so beautiful with so much history everywhere.  It will always hold a special place in my heart.  It’s where I became a doctor!  Being a history nerd, I was in heaven living there during medical school and it was so cool to be able to live in Poland for a few years as it’s where my family/ancestors are all from.  All the history was extra special to me because of that.  My mom also went to University in Krakow so I got to stroll the same streets as her when she was my age.  Looking through photos from two years ago (the last time I was there was for my graduation!), I’m getting such a warm feeling in my heart.  The main square is the largest in Europe with beautiful cathedrals and stone buildings.  Whenever I go to Krakow, I love going to Wierzynek, a restaurant overlooking the square that was founded in 1364 when the master of the house at the time hosted the king and his visiting diplomats after signing a peace treaty in the square.  Another must is liter beers at Pod Wawelem, right at the base of the Wawel.  One beer and you’re more than done haha.  Our weekly brunch spot was Charlotte, a French bistro with the best chèvre chaud salad and pastry baskets (with white chocolate spread mmmm).  Can’t wait to show Essex all of it!  You know you live somewhere unique when you can casually have a champagne picnic at the base of castle after your pathology lecture haha.  I didn’t realize how much I miss Krakow until I started planning our travels this fall and now I’m SO excited.  I’m so lucky to have this month fully off.  The adventure starts tomorrow evening with a flight to LA where we’ll be for a week.  Then off to Poland to see Krakow, visit my grandparents, and check out Zakopane (the polish mountains).  After that we’re off to Italy for a week then a little time in London before coming home just in time for the annual Canadian Thanksgiving camping trip to Sombrio on Vancouver Island.   Then it’s back to reality: refreshed for research mode!  I’ll keep you updated on Instagram (@titaszlachetka) and blog when I can, but I really want to take in and appreciate my time in Europe with Essex.  Plenty of time to edit photos when I’m back in the office haha.  Time to enjoy the last evening with my mom, sister, and Moka.  Essex is going to be getting here late tonight, too!  So stoked to see him.  Ciao from Port Moody babeskillets, Tita xx
