Hope everyone had a lovely weekend, I definitely enjoyed down time at home with a little work and studying mixed in. Tonight’s agenda consists of helping my little sister with pre-calculus, peppermint tea, and getting to bed early with a book. So chill for a change, I love it. Something I also love is road trips! Ever since I was a wee tyke I was hyped for long drives and checking out the small towns, weird restaurants, and truck stops along the way. Some girls want a pony and some girls want to visit a good old truck stop haha. Anyway, I’m into all things involved. Driving along the West Coast brings epic views and fun surf pit stops but before we got to the ocean we had a long drive from North Idaho to the Oregon coast. Highway driving with a little scenery along the Columbia river! We left a little later than planned so we arrived in Pacific City after midnight but half of the drive was in daylight. Here’s my road trip survival guide. First of all, a comfortable outfit (boyfriend jeans and a white t-shirt) with a warm layer to take on/off. Love my Paul Smith down jacket, the flower pattern is sick! Next, a sweet Polaroid camera (pink and pretty haha) to document the fun antics. Another must is some caffeine from a coffee stand. There’s so many cute drive-thru coffee huts in Oregon/Washington/Idaho, we don’t have those in Vancouver and they are sooo perfecto for long drives. Adorable dashboard travel buddies are great assets as well…haha. Now that you’ve got your gear, here’s where to stop: Loves! Loves is a chain of truck stops with gas stations and shops where you can buy anything from a drone to a Beanie Baby…perfection? I think so. Anyhow, a xxx-large coffee from there is under two dollars and if that’s not America I don’t know what is. Great tip, honestly haha. Since we left late we decided to stop for dinner on the way instead of cooking on the beach when we arrived. We stopped at a cheesy Old West themed restaurant called Cousins near Hood River. So fun, and I even got to ride a majestic plastic horse. Drove through Portland in the dark, but fun stops along the way made for not getting sleepy behind the wheel…and when Essex did start to get tired I entertained him with scary stories for the last hour of the drive.
