LA evenings <3

Happy Monday!  Hope everyone is having an awesome start to the week, I’m spending my day studying but I think today’s study break is going to be a run later this afternoon.  No rain at the moment, hope it holds off haha.  A good workout can clear your head and refresh you brain SO well.  The best medicine for stress, in my opinion.  Another great way to spend an evening off is being fab in LA…but that only happens on the rarest occasions haha.  Last time I was in LA, I had the best night hopping around downtown and discovered some sick spots along the way, so I’d thought I’d share them with you!

The night started off in the Fairfax area.  I had a pre-conference happy hour event in this part of town, so before the fun I got a blowout at the nearby Salon Three.  I was lucky enough to try using a new app called Prête.  It’s kind of like Uber for hair salons: you pick your area on the map and the time you want, and will get an appointment at the nearest salon.  I got one at Salon Three and was so happy with the result (I hardly ever do stuff like this, but I had the opportunity so it was awesome to get a little pampering!).  The salon was super cute, as well.  If you’re getting a blowout there, ask for Jeremiah; he was awesome.  The app is just in the states at the moment, but Canada need something like this!

After sipping some coffee while getting the hair did, I headed over to Rolling Greens for the Create & Cultivate happy hour event.  This location is so cool!  It’s a garden and interior decor store, half outside, that doubles as an event spot.  So many sick plants and Pinterest worthy set ups.  We got to take home a succulent (hand selected and self-potted, so fun) as a goodie.  Kind of felt like I was sipping my champagne in the jungle haha.

After mingling with some conference babes, it was tine to Uber to Santa Monica to continue the night with Essex!  We love Santa Monica, so many good restaurants and the vibes are just right, ya know?  Our fave restaurant there is Blue Plate Oysterette, a little sea food spot with the coolest decor and delicious food.  The drinks there also hit the spot…try their sangria for a refreshing summer drink.  Honestly everything I ever order there is so good, but the truffle lobster mac n’ cheese is a must!  Drooling just thinking about it.  Also, check out their bathrooms: the wall paper is next level, just a big collage of ocean themed magazine clippings…so many sea creatures (my jam).

After dinner we continued the night with drinks at The Bungalow, also in Santa Monica.  A classic spot drinks, where famous faces are often spotted.  Really awesome decor, too…true to the name, it indeed feels like you’re in a beach bungalow.  A little pricey for drinks, but I think that’s standard in LA.  The atmosphere is super rad, and worth the splurge I think (especially if you’re on vacation).

The lovely thing about LA is Uber…we were home so quick and without a crazy high taxi fee.  When is Vancouver going to take the hint?

There you have it, a night out in LA…so fun.  What if that was my everyday life?  Nah, it wouldn’t be as special then.  The study life chose me haha.  I’m not complaining, super fortunate to be in my position, and it makes me truly appreciate the time off adventures.  Here’s to working hard and then playing hard babeskillets, Tita xx
