Summer shred <3

Breaking your summer content with a little bit of winter!  In this installment of Shred Life I’ll be talking about summer skiing.  If you live near a resort that has glacier skiing in the summer – definitely hit it up!  Me and Essex went to Mt. Hood less than an hour out of Hood River, Oregon, this past week for some sunny summer turns and it was SO fun.  Here’s my top five tips for le warm weather shred:

Number 1: SUNSCREEN!  This is a given but the high altitude rays are notorious for giving your face and neck a mega burn.  Lather on that SPF before you head up AND wear a good hat that shades your face.  If you’re wearing a helmet, cover your face with a balaclava (gangster AND protective).  I was on the filming program for Essex so kept it mellow with a chapeau and shades.

Number 2: NO LONG JOHNS!  It’s summer, it’s hot…keep the LJs at home and just go straight snow pants.  Trust me, you’ll thank me.  Up top keep it light with along sleeve top.  I added a vest for swagger, duh.  Pro tip: wear your bikini underneath so you can go straight from shredding to an après ski cold dip.

Number 3: PACK LIGHT!  With uploading from the base of the mountain with your skis in hand, to potentially taking them off each lap to get back to the chair lift, you want your hands and back as free as possible.  I say try to have everything you need contained within your pockets for optimal shred fun.

Number 4: SHRED BABE HAIR!  This is for all the babes out there who want effortless messy waves after skiing.  The Ouai’s Wave Spray is here to save the day (and make your hair smell amazing after a sweaty day on the glacier).  Spray throughout your hair then play with it a bit for some volume and wave action.

Number 5: HAVE FUN!  It’s time to take tons of quick glacier laps!  Whether you like hitting the park or just slashing some slushy turns – you’re going to have a hoot because it’s summer and YOU’RE SKIING.  My skis of choice this week were the Nordica Soul Rider 97 – super fun.

Voilà!  A recipe to optimize your glacier fun.  Remember, lifts usually stop running pretty early (around 2:00pm) as the snow gets too soft and slushy by the late afternoon – so plan accordingly.  Happy summer shred babeskillets, Tita xx
